God is so good. We saw so many miracles in this busy week On Wednesday we had exchanges. I stayed in Show Low with Sister Lawther, and had to take lead. I don't know what it is about exchanges, but cool things always happen. We had stopped and gotten out of the car to get more pass along cards in the back. I looked up the road and there was a guy walking towards us. I took "extra" time getting them from the back so we could meet him right as he was passing. He had headphones in, so we scared him just a little bit by jumping on front of him and yelling Hey! We started talking and he thought it was pretty cool we were sister missionaries, because he had only ever met elders. He told us we were the first missionaries to intrigue him. He asked us right then and there if we could go somewhere so we could teach, and talk to him some more. We headed across the road to sit on some swings at a little abandoned park. It was so good, and he wanted to meet again that same night. The only bummer is that he is YSA age, so we passed him off to the other sisters. I'm excited to see how he progresses.
So all the real cool miracles happened Saturday. It's funny how God keeps us on our toes and holds out until last minute. Saturday was amazing. First we had a lesson with Ken. I absolutely love Ken. He is just one of those people you can't help but love. Previously he was on date for baptism in January...which is pretty far away. We felt really prompted to talk about baptism again. What was so cool is that by the end we said "you're probably wondering why we are bringing up baptism again..." Before we could say anything else he said, "I don't want to wait all the way until January to be baptized" we almost started crying. He has come such a long way, and we love him to death. He now is on date for September 20th. He also came to church with two broken feet. What a champ. Miracle #2: We have been teaching Clarice. She is Navajo Indian and the missionaries have been teaching her for quite sometime now. She hasn't been able to commit to baptism, because she wants to be 100% in if she does get baptized. So we invited her to one of the Elders baptisms. It was a Native American getting baptized from the Cibecue Reservation. It really touched Clarice. After the baptism her two girls that were with her wouldn't stop talking about how they wanted to get baptized. All of a sudden she said, "maybe I could be baptized with you" I'm pretty sure we just stood there in shock for a moment. We set a date for her and her oldest son and daughter to be baptized on September 1st. On Sunday she told us that she asked her daughter's why they wanted to get baptized so badly. They both said they wanted to be like Laci and be a good person. Laci is a member and is best friends with Clarice. It just stood out to me of how huge an impact it is on other people to be that example. It wasn't the missionaries that changed that for Clarice, but the small and quiet example of those who had befriended her. She wants the happiness they have. Continue to be those examples and share the gospel in everything you do. I love what Howard W. Hunter said, " A great indicator of one's personal conversion is the desire to share the gospel with others." Love and miss you!

So funny thing happened this week.... Sister Casebolt and I were in our room writing in our journals, when all of a sudden It sounded like someone was in our house, so I jumped up super quick and locked the door to our room. Sister Casebolt didn't hear anything, and I realized I was probably just being a little baby, so we just continued to write in our journals. A little while later Sister Casebolt got up and whispered, "I hear it now!" It sounded like someone was walking around in the other room. We got so scared and went to hide in the closet while we called the zone leaders. They said to stay put and that they would be there in 5 minutes. That was when we realized that before going into our room we had locked the front door, so they wouldn't be able to get in. Sister Casebolt grabbed a ladder and I grabbed a flashlight and we sprinted toward the front door. We flung it open and Elder Dorius being a 6'10 giant was standing there ready to hit us with a FRYING PAN next to his 5'6 companion holding a fire extinguisher! While the two other Elders were hiding behind them. It was the funniest sight I've ever seen! Everything was all good but it was the weirdest night for sure, we for real thought someone was in our house, and now we get made fun of. Good good times. We also found some new people this week! All while trying to see the people we were already teaching! Everyone had siblings that are secretly interested. It's the best. Something I've learned this week is how effective prayer is when we really pray in faith and we pray frequently and daily for those things. Heavenly Father, being our "Father" wants to bless us with the things we ask for, as long as we are keeping His commandments, it is part of His will, and we ask in real faith. Palangga ta kamo! Nahidlaw ko s'inyo!! Show Low Week 1Well transfers happened. I am now in Show Low and my new companion is Sister Casebolt. Show Low is just 20 minutes away from my old area but it is so different. The town is a lot bigger, greener, and has a whole lot more trees. We're pretty much in the middle of a forest. Sister Casebolt is from Roy, Utah and has four siblings and actually has a twin sister serving in Washington DC. Crazy thing is that Sister Casebolt back in December was companions with another visa waiter going to my same mission in the Philippines! She keeps telling me how similar the two of us are, and how I'm destined to be companions with her. We work so well together, and I feel like we are going to get so much done this transfer. I've really been trying to work on having a sense of urgency by forgetting myself and getting straight to work. I find myself focusing, and worrying about things I can't control. (Visa) It's been weird because I had just gotten to the point where I knew most of the people in my old area and now I'm back to ground zero. This time it should be easier though, because we are only over two wards. I'm grateful for that cause four wards got overwhelming sometimes. This week I was able to meet, and get to know a lot of people and I'm so excited for this area! The people we are teaching and the members are amazing. The members are so excited for, and want to be a part of missionary work. We always have someone who wants to come out with us, and we have members at almost every set lesson we give. The biggest tender mercy happened this week... On Friday we were at recent converts 16th birthday party, and that's where I met Sister Tosie. I remember being in the MTC when Brother Taylor told us that if we see anyone that looks like they could be Filipino that we should make a B-line straight for them, so that's what I did. Come to find out she is from Bacolod. I couldn't believe it. I'm pretty sure I went into shock. Sister Tosie was so beyond excited and she spent the whole time talking to me and helping me with the language. She told me about her mom who still lives in Bacolod. She said that it is my job once I get there to go find and teach her. I'm growing faith in His timing and in His plan for me. Love you all and miss you so much! Look for missionary opportunities around you and have a fantastic week! A few last pictures in Taylor....Maayong aga! Hopefully tonight we will know more about transfers. We are all just a little confused right now. President Robinson called last night and said Sister Stuart is training again, and that Sister Richards and I are going somewhere else but he didn't say where or anything about Visa's. So I'm just a little anxious haha. Just keep praying for my Visa to come. :) Besides all of that it really was a great week! So I'll start with an update on Lucky. We went over and watched the movie Joseph Smith, Prophet of the Restoration with her. She loved it. She still hasn't come to church....but don't worry we'll eventually get her there. She did send us a text the other day that said, "I read from the Book of Mormon! It was amazing. I didn't read far yet. I just read the introduction and the testimonial of Joseph Smith, the pages in the beginning. I love reading about Joseph Smith." For the Fourth of July everyone was out of town so we made a bunch of cupcakes to go give to those we are teaching. We also had a pretty cool experience this Sunday. A recent convert named Shelly, has been bringing her son's girlfriend to church. Her name is Anita and it was her second time coming. The first time she seemed really intimidated, and didn't seem too happy to be there. This Sunday it was crazy, because she was asking so many questions in class, and seemed really interested. It was amazing to see the change in her this second week in church. One of the sisters in the ward named Melanie Neff said that during Relief Society Anita couldn't stop smiling. It's crazy what happens when we feel the spirit and allow it into our heart's. That's what living this gospel does for us. It makes me smile and brings so much hope. She wants us to begin teaching her. I absolutely love what I read in the book Our Search For Happiness this week. It said, "It's hard to have a negative attitude about things if and when your life is focused on the Prince of Peace. There will still be problems, everyone has them. Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is a power to be reckoned with in the universe, and in individual lives. It can be a causative force in which miracles are wrought. It can also be a source of inner strength through which we find self-esteem, peace of mind, contentment, and the courage to cope." If we will center our lives around Him and learn all we can of Jesus Christ, we will have His direction in our lives, Our Heavenly Father will be able to mold us to what he wants and knows we can be become and there will never be something we can't get through. I love you all so much! Have a great week! Thanks again for all the emails:) Visa update; Emily thought and hoped her Visa would be here by transfer time. Here we are and it is still stuck at the consulate. All we can do is pray that it will come. A senior sister that works in the office in the Philippines told several of the worried moms on the mission page that of 52 American missionaries that were assigned to the Philippines NONE got their Visa's. She said that today they received word that their mission is now getting 13 American missionaries. However, none of the missionaries that have been temporarily reassigned were on the list.. Em said, "You have no Idea how badly I want to go to the Philippines right now. It just feels like a far off dream I'll never make it to. I'm just have to continue to have a good attitude and continue to enjoy each moment of where I'm at, there's not much else I can do." I'll just jump right into everything because there was so much that happened. So this week was pretty much like the week of the 4th of July here in Taylor and Snowflake. On Saturday everyone was having their big 4th of July meals. We were invited to like 5 different meals and we felt bad turning so many down, because they all wanted to have us. I'm pretty sure I've gained like 5lbs haha. Sister Johnson (from the Philippines) was the sweetest and made a bunch of Filipino food for me. It was seriously so good!! We also were able to watch the rodeo fireworks right outside our house which was pretty awesome. This week on Tuesday we were able to teach Tonya and her 6 kids again. We haven't really been able to teach any of the lessons to her yet because we always felt it was the wrong time or her kids were too crazy (they are all under the age of 6). This time we went ahead with teaching the Restoration. What was so cool to me was that even with all the craziness around us, she was zoned in on us and was trying to take in everything we were saying. It was my first time getting the chance to quote the first vision, and introduce Joseph Smith. It's crazy the power that those words carry. As the words came out, the spirit pretty much bulldozed me! It reaffirmed and retestified to me that Joseph Smith really was a true prophet called of God. I love how every time the first vision is shared in his words how undeniable the spirit is. We also were able to visit Lucky again this week. The last time we were able to visit was forever ago when she got a priesthood blessing. Over that time she was able to watch Ephraim's Rescue, she loved the movie and when we showed up, she had a whole page of questions written down. We went in that direction and it turned out to be one of the best lessons we have ever had. She had so many good questions about the priesthood, Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. It was so cool to see so many things connecting together in her head. We all were about ready to scream with excitement, because by the end she looked at us and said, "I'm ready to read the book now." She also sent us the sweetest text later that night and told us she was coming to church. I can't even describe the joy I feel when others progress and start to come to know it is true. Oh there were so many other awesome things that happened last week, but I'll just share one more.... We headed over to go visit an inactive woman and her three daughters. We pulled up and all agreed what video clip we wanted to share with them. As sister Stuart went to pull up the video, it had for some reason gotten unloaded and Sister Richards forgot her tablet in the car. As Sister Stuart scrolled through to find a back up plan the only video that hadn't been unloaded was called Courage. We went ahead and played it. By the end she was in tears. Heavenly Father knows us, and He knew exactly what that woman needed to hear at that exact time and He made sure it happened. ;) I love this Gospel with all my heart and know it is true! Have a wonderful 4th of July week! Love You! |
