HELLO Well this week was a whole lot of CHANGE. New companion, area, and people. This area is so DAKO (huge). Coming from two areas where we could walk the whole thing in a day, pero now it would be impossible. Sister Castillo is Tagalog gid and trying to learn Ilonggo. So lets just say I'm trying to learn a little bit of Tagalog so we can communicate better lol. Our week was a lot of finding new people. My favorite person we found was a 22 year old guy named Bevvs. Sister Castillo was thirsty, so we stopped at a tyunggi so she could buy a coke. That's where we met Bevvs, we sat down and he brought the coke, but instead of leaving he sat down with us and started asking us questions. We shared who we are, what we were doing there, and a short message about Jesus Christ. Instead of us asking, he asked when we could come back and if he could invite a friend...As in so golden. As in dasig gid ining week so indi ko madumdumon ano natabo pasensya gid ahahah As for my thought of the week, I love 3 Nephi, because we hear directly from Jesus Christ. In 3 Nephi 11 verse 11, Jesus Christ appears to the Nephite's and introduces himself. "And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me....I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning. "When Jeffery R. Holland came to the Philippines he spoke and said of all the ways the Son of God could have introduced himself, in other words He introduced himself as the son who obeyed. He did what he had to do whether he wanted to or not, and suffered the will of the Father. What a great lesson for all of us. We need to do what we're supposed to do regardless of whether or not we want to, no matter how hard. I want to be known as the daughter who obeyed and "suffered the will of the Father in all things" Find the will of the Father for you and most importantly do it. This is His mission. Love you all! Em didn't really have time to explain the pictures this week. We got to talk to her for a little bit. She was at an internet cafe where there are no cameras, so we couldn't see her. As always it was great to hear her voice. Zach gave her some good advice, and some comic relief. It was great to hear her laugh! 😄

Hey! Guess what?! Andres got baptized!! Saturday morning we left for the church extra early to make sure everything was good for Andres's baptism. At the church our ward mission leader (Brother John) was waiting to tell us the water tank was broken. So the only water we had, was what was already in the baptismal font from a couple weeks ago. As in, the water was only about knee deep, it was super dirty, and smelled really fishy...yum. While we tried to figure everything out, everyone sat out on the front lawn of the chapel for about an hour. It got to the point that Andres himself said it doesn't matter where as long as he got baptized. He literally had to bend his knees and lay back in the water from there. I can't believe he was that flexible, (he's the same size as I am) haha, and hey it only took 2 tries! Pero the only thing that really matters is he got it done right. Afterwards, I asked how he felt, and despite the cold, stinky, gross water, he said he felt katawhay (peace). Ahh he's the best. Now his whole family can work towards making it to the temple. In other news, I transferred again. I don't think it's possible for me to stay in an area longer than 12 weeks or to stay with the same companion for more then one transfer. It kind of makes me sad though because I've had amazing companions that I love so much! I'll miss Sister Sales. Now I'm in Hinigaran follow up training again. My companions name is Sister Castillo from Sta. Cruz Zambalis, Philippines. I'm excited to see what this next transfer has in store. Halong kamo tanan! Palangga ta kamo! Sister Adams Kamusta ka na? Abaw! It was a great week and yet again I can't believe it's another Monday. This week we spent a whole lot of time with the Arlos family preparing Andres for his baptism. He is so ready. I love him and his family so much. On Saturday the Elders came with us to interview Andres for Baptism. They were SO excited to get to go to Cavan. It is my favorite place ever. And good news Andres passed hapos gid. A while back we had started to teach a group of boys, one is a recent convert and the rest are his cousins. One boy in particular is more interested then the others. His name is Ronel and he seriously could be a modern day Joseph Smith. He's 14, so spiritually mature and has tried just about every church just wanting to find the truth. It was pretty cool to be able to fully relate Joseph Smith's story directly to him. We know he knows it's true. The times he has prayed he told us he's felt peace every time. He just continues to tell us he's not ready. So we just need to convince him he is. Also funny story of the week. Once a week we go to a recent convert that was baptized a while ago. We weren't sure if he had been retaught after his baptism so we started from the beginning, the funniest part is when we asked about the Godhead and he proceeded to tell us that it is Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and Joseph Smith I couldn't help it I lost it laughing. No wonder people think we worship Joseph Smith. Don't worry he understands now hehe This Sunday Sister Sales and I spoke again. I talked about prayer and shared a story. As most of you know, I went down to Snow College the beginning of August for training summer before last. It was really tough physically, and mentally, and I'm not sure if my mom remembers this or not, but every night without fail, she would text or call and want to know everything. What we did and especially how I was doing. She wanted to know it all even now being on a mission, she wants all the details. And sometimes (no offense mom) it was a little annoying. But as I've thought on it, I've realized it is the same as our Father in Heaven. He wants to know everything. What we did, how we are doing, our dreams, hopes, fears, problems and the longings of our hearts, because we are His children and He loves us. And unlike my mom he can't call or text, He silently waits to listen. So get on your knees and communicate with him everyday:) Palangga ta kamo tanan! Halong pirme We got to talk to Em on messenger Sunday night. I love that I get to see her more often, & hear her interactions with her companion, & the people. She didn’t write an email, but sent pictures. She is still happy, loves her companion, and is ready to change things in Pulupandan. Sister Sales only speaks Ilongo to Emily, so she said she has gotten better at speaking the language this transfer.
She told about eating pigs blood, & was glad she didn’t know what it was till after she ate it. (She said it wasn’t too bad). She also told about eating baked drops of pigs blood. Sister Sales loves it, but Em is not a fan. Hey Fam and friends, It was a great week even being sick with a bad cold and cough. I just absolutely love the people we teach. This week I think we went and taught Joseph and Samantha just about everyday because at the end of every lesson they ask, "Will you please come back tomorrow?" or "You're leaving already?" even better we had just taught the Plan of Salvation and the very next day Samantha's friends got into a conversation about what life will be like after this one. She was so excited to tell us that she was able to share with them exactly what we had taught the day before. AHH I can't even tell you how much I love um. Then on Wednesday we had a break through lesson with Lyn. Missionaries have taught her for a while now but she's never been ready to give it a fair chance. She sat us down and told us she's been able to see so many blessings from God happening in her life from listening to us. She wants us to teach her family all together, and Sister Sales and I had the biggest grins on our faces when she said "our" church instead of "your" church. We couldn't have been happier when she, and two of her daughters came to church the next day. Amat amat lang we are seeing blessings from working hard.
It's been so funny because so many times this week people we teach look at me and say, "You are so happy." Then to Sister Sales, "She's so happy no?" My answer is yes, yes I am. I couldn't be happier. I love that the greatest and real source of all joy and happiness we could ever feel, comes from knowing and living the Gospel of Jesus Christ day in and day out. It's the greatest blessing to share that message adlaw-adlaw, and then see them experience that same happiness no matter what else may or may not be happening in their lives. We are the luckiest. Palangga ko kamo! Sister Adams |
